Poetry

Loss.

And it happens again.
Innocence lost in a whiff,
A haze of hatred, lust and rage,
Overpowers her, violates her spirit
Not just her body and mind.

Someone’s child, someone’s daughter
A sister, a friend, a smiling girl
who left behind
A hole so deep in our hearts,
Shaming our collective conscience

The human race is in a mad frenzy to write its own doom,
The end will come, not from the deep recesses of the ocean or the earth,
But from within the minds of its own,
That rule, dictate, violate and purge

Hiding behind the lame excuses
of border, religion, gender and race.

Forgetting the purpose of existence,
A disgrace to the creator, wreaking havoc among all his creations.
